The paper aimed to analyze the financial statements of educational business groups listed on the Brazilian stock exchange - B3 - Brazil, Stock Exchange, Balcão , under the aspect of organizational slack and its relationship with economic performance, in view of the pandemic factor, in the light of the Contingency Theory. The research is characterized as descriptive, with a quantitative and documentary approach. The sample consists of 6 educational groups totaling 66 observations and the time frame from 2019 to 2021. Economatics was used® for data extraction and for analysis we used descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation with the use of SPSS® software and panel data analysis with linear regression Pooling model through the R Studio software. The results of this research indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic inversely affects organizational slack in performance. The variable recoverable clearance alone has a negative influence on performance, but when considering the pandemic the influence is positive "inverse" on the variable recoverable backlash. It is concluded, then, that the covid-19 pandemic can reverseact organizational slack in performance. Thus, this study contributes to the literature enriching the existing theory about organizational slack in economic performance and also the moderation of the pandemic on organizational slack.
