Abstract

The Brazilian Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-9) establishes the mission of modernizing infrastructure and rehabilitating industries to make them sustainable, with increased efficiency in the use of resources and greater adoption of clean and environmentally correct technologies and industrial processes. SDG-9 highlights the importance of studies aimed at innovation in sustainable practices adopted by the industry. In order to foster the theoretical framework for further studies, a systematic literature review (SLR) was carried out with the aim of survey the main motivating and obstructing factors to the adoption of sustainable practices in the textile and clothing industry. This industry was chosen due to its economic relevance for the country. Thus, 63 articles, published from 2018 to 2023, were examined using the bibliometric analysis technique and three research questions were answered. The results show a growing trend in the number of publications related to the textile and clothing industry in China. The gaps and, consequently, the research opportunities, identified by the analysis of the articles, can guide the planning and implementation of sustainable practices in industries whose raw material is fabric.
