Abstract

: In the current context in which organizations are inserted, exploring the intersection between strategic management, environmental sustainability and strategizing is necessary, since the dynamics of the relationship between these elements are increasingly relevant. Thus, this study sought to relate strategic management and sustainability practices, from the perspective of strategy as a social practice. To this end, we developed qualitative and descriptive research through a single case study. In operationalizing the case study, we collected data from semi-structured interviews, direct observation and documentary files, and analyzed them using narrative analysis and pattern matching techniques. As main results, we highlight the occurrence of strategic management in the organization with a focus on centralization in top management and operationalization at lower levels, characterizing a strategy with a scenario closer to deliberation than integration. However, we identified the concern and involvement of both with sustainability practices, such as the development of innovative products to reduce environmental impact, longer-lasting products, recycling of 100% of waste left over from the production of specific board models and reduction of approximately 40% of petroleum-based materials through the use of manufacturing technology. The practices and practitioners involved in all organizational processes work to promote sustainable development, considering it from the perspective of strategy as practice.
